We love a reimagining of folklore tales, especially when it comes to vampires. They’ve sparkled, they’ve walked in the sun, they’ve survived off of synthetic blood, and more. Now, in Sony’s coming-soon horror, they’ll — well, we don’t quite know yet. Here’s what we do know.
Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones) stars as Evie who after the death of her mother, decides to search for other relatives via a DNA test.
When the results come in, she discovers she has a long-lost cousin across the pond she never knew about. Excited about her newfound family, she decides to accept her cousin’s invitation to attend a lavish family wedding in the English countryside.

Upon her arrival, she’s introduced to the dashing Walter (Thomas Doherty, Legacies). Quickly seduced by his charm, Evie begins to sense that something is off as people play coy about the details of the ceremony.
Then, in an unsurprising turn of events, Evie realizes that her new kinfolk has sinister intentions that may leave her bound in nightmarish matrimony.
The film is directed by Jessica M. Thompson (The Light of the Moon) who also wrote the screenplay alongside the person who made us want to throw away our Fujifilm Instax cameras, Blair Butler (Polaroid).
The Invitation comes to theaters on August 25.
