Prepare to be sick of us! Prepare, right now, to be sick of us!

Anticipation has been brewing for this film since the first images were released earlier this year. Now that the trailer for The Woman King has dropped that anticipation has grown into full-blown excitement. If you think Black people showed up for Black Panther, just wait until the real-life inspiration for the Dora Milaje comes to the big screen.
The Woman King follows the story of General Nanisca (Oscar-winner Viola Davis) as she trains the next generation of the Agojie, an all-female group of skillful warriors who protect the Dahomey Kingdom in 19th century Africa. When European settlers invade their lands threatening their way of life, Nanisca and the Agojie must ready themselves to defend their home and their freedom.

Inspired by true events and boasting a cast including Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and John Boyega this historical epic from director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Old Guard) is sure to bring many to the theater.
The Woman King hits theaters September 16.
