It’s only a matter of time before robots take over the world. Until then, they might just take over our social lives; at least, that’s what’s suggested in Neon’s new comedy Robots.

From the co-writer of Borat comes a romantic comedy of mechanical proportions. The trailer shows how robots have been integrated into our society. In this not-so-distant future we use robots to take care of all the menial tasks no one wants to do. For example, we’re shown a group of robot garbage collectors.
But, it’s apparently illegal to have a robot double of yourself. Well, after womanizer, Charles (Jack Whitehall; Jungle Cruise) meets gold digger, Elaine (Shailene Woodley; Big Little Lies), the two of them use their robot doubles to date on their behalf, but they don’t count on their robots falling in love and running away. So now, Charles and Elaine team up to capture their robot doubles, and find humanity along the way.
NEON will release this gem in theaters and VOD May 19.
