Be still my beating heart; we finally have a glimpse into Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated sci-fi film Rebel Moon.
On the heels of Army of the Dead and the upcoming prequel and spin-off Army of Thieves and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, the Snyderverse expands on Netflix with a new world in Rebel Moon.
When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, they dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand.

We can expect a world filled with various planets, cyborgs, and a host of robots and space creatures. Consider it a medieval times space saga.
In the first look Vanity Fair article, Snyder talks about crafting this immersive world. He wants the audience to feel as if they are part of the world. “This movie was me going, ‘Of course it’s a space opera, but let’s not lens it that way. Let’s lens it in a more intimate way, so that the sci-fi elements feel more grounded.’ We’re not always saying, ‘Look at how big our spaceships are or how weird our planets look!’ That happens, but it happens as an organic part of the world you’re in. You’re there, and so the things you see on that journey are not forced upon you or spoon-fed to you,” Snyder told Vanity Fair.

The inspiration behind Rebel Moon might make the project feel familiar compared to other sci-fi adventure franchises, but Snyder is bringing us a new world complete with new and diverse characters.
“It has a bit of Star Wars. It has a bit of everything,” Deborah Snyder told Vanity Fair. “It’s a little bit like Lord of the Rings, a little bit Game of Thrones with the palace intrigue. And it’s really just a lot of what’s in Zack’s head.”
The film is co-written with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad and boasts a cast that includes Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Staz Nair, Michiel Huisman, Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, E. Duffy, and Djimon Honsou.
Rebel Moon is set to release on Netflix on December 22.
